What you get

Google Ad Grants gives an approved nonprofit up to $10,000 a month in free Google Search advertising — in-kind ad inventory, not cash, so the value you actually capture depends on running real campaigns. It rides on top of a Google for Nonprofits account: apply for that first, then activate Ad Grants separately from the same dashboard. Unlike a one-time signup, Ad Grants keeps checking your account every month — click-through rate, conversion tracking, and keyword quality all factor in, and letting them slip can pause the grant.

How to redeem

  1. Get an approved Google for Nonprofits account first — Ad Grants activates from inside it, not on its own.
  2. From your Google for Nonprofits dashboard, apply for Ad Grants and confirm you have a working website on your own domain.
  3. Set up conversion tracking and build a campaign that follows Google's keyword and quality rules; new accounts get a 90-day grace period before the performance rules kick in.
  4. Keep the account above a 5% click-through rate every month — two months in a row below that threshold gets the account temporarily deactivated.

Worth knowing

Requires an approved Google for Nonprofits account and a working website on an org-owned HTTPS domain — no AdSense or affiliate content. New accounts get a 90-day grace period before performance rules apply. Ongoing compliance after that: minimum 5% account-level click-through rate every month (two consecutive months below the floor triggers temporary deactivation), valid conversion tracking, and keyword quality rules. This is the one Tier 1 item that isn't claim-and-forget — budget ongoing staff time to run it, not just apply for it.
